Stand Firm in the fight
June 11th, 2008
Scripture:
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” Ephesians 6:10-11
Observation:
Paul reminds us in these verses that we are fighting a spiritual battle and that we must be prepared. God provides us with all the tools and armor necessary for the battle, but we must be willing to use it. We must be willing to prepare diligently and not let our guards down.
Application:
What an amazing day I had at VBS Monday. God was so good and it was
evident in the smiles of the hundreds of children and workers through out the
church. It is days like this that I just float on a spiritual high, watching God
orchestrate His plans through the church. It is also on days like this that I can find myself most susceptible to advances by Satan. It is so easy when we are in our comfort zone, to allow our human nature to weaken our defenses. My desire for approval by others, my pride in taking credit for a good day, my people pleaser attitude that wants to fix any problems all open me up to advances by the evil one. Satan knows when God wants to do mighty things through us, and He will do whatever he can to stop God.
Prayer:
Lord, my prayer today is that I continue to stand firm in the spiritual battle ahead. There are lost children and families who will be on our campus this week, and I want to do whatever I can to stop Satan from hindering them. Let me put on your full armor and give You the glory for all the amazing works that will take place this week.
