Learning About I AM
Scripture:
Isaiah 46:9- 10 – “Remember the former things long past, For I am the God, and there is no other; I AM God, and there is no one like me. Declaring the end from the beginning and from the ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, “My purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all my good pleasure.’”
Observation:
There is only one true God! He is I AM. Over and over in Isaiah, we see the phrase, “I am the Lord your God”, and in verse 9, “I am the God.” Only the true God knows the future and has a plan that He has purposed for his good pleasure. God is claiming to be everything because HE IS everything – the beginning and the end.
Application:
I have known about God all my life, from great parents who love God and love me. I have been to church most Sundays of my life. I have learned to pray and that God loves me. But it is so common a thing for me to love God and talk to God. But when did I really understand that He IS I AM? Do I really understand the mighty power of my creator? In our culture we talk about God all the time but do we know who He is. I feel an urgency to know Him as I AM. To dig into scripture and understand what He wants me to know about Himself. I truly want others see clearly who He IS and what a great and powerful thing it is that HE IS would want a relationship with His children. I want to be obedient about sharing His Name and pointing people to scripture so that they to can have an urgency to know HIM for themselves. My heart’s desire is that we can all understand that our only hope truly is in my Savior. His name is I AM.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for You are mighty and strong. Thank You for teaching me more about who You are… not just a common thing that I’m used to talking about but You are EVERYTHING. Please don’t let this urgency fade- I want to know You more. I want others to know You, to see who You truly are, for You are powerful and just and at the same time complete grace. I am desperate for You to be my everything. I love you!
