My Pleasure!
Scripture:
1John 5:3 — “ This is the love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome”
Observation:
John was concerned about the community of believers who already fallen into the trappings of false teaching and had turned away. These false teachers were offering an enticing new look into the character and person of God; claiming that Jesus did not come in the flesh. John, therefore was warning the remainder of the community to continue firm in their commitment to sound Christian beliefs.
Application:
One of the truest foundations of Christianity is a love for God which calls us in to obedience. When we become God’s children and truly grasp the magnitude of what he has done for us, it should be our heart’s desire to repay him. The honest truth is there is nothing that we can do to repay this free gift so in gratitude and love we should give our entire being over to him. Each day should be an opportunity to live totally for God, to give your words, your deeds, your thoughts, your whole self to him. With this mindset, following his commands and his will shouldn’t be a task it should honestly be a joy, not a burden. It should be your heart’s desire to be His hands and feet to express His free gift to others; something that we can do to simply show our gratitude and love to our Father.
Prayer:
Lord, let me be ever mindful of your free gift! Lord, let me wake each day looking forwarding to serving you, praising you and worship you through all that I am. The only thing that I have to offer is my whole self and today, I give that to you to use as you see fit. Soften my heart to hear your direction and guide my steps to glorify you. Amen.
