A Father's Pray

A Father's Pray

Posted by Brad McNair on Feb 17, 2012

I had the opportunity this week to sit down with Will Arnett and his son Josh, who had made it known that he wanted to become a Christ follower. This is honestly the best part of what I get to do, seeing parents take the spiritual initiative in their children coming into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As I sat and talked with them, I could just see the look on Will’s face and how proud and excited he was for Josh. In that moment it made me reflect on how God smiles at us in those moments when we are walking in His will. Not only was that child's earthly father smiling at him in that moment, his Heavenly Father was smiling as well. When we had finished our conversation, I asked Will to pray over Josh. As he prayed for Josh to be a boy who follows God and leads others to follow God, Josh nodded his head in agreement. Will continued on to pray that he would grow into a man that follows God in every aspect of his life and brings glory to God. The passionate prayer of a parent for his or her child is such a powerful thing. This month during P28+1 we have been asked to pray for our families: that they would have spiritual breakthroughs, that the Holy Spirit's presence be evident in them, and for an awakening in those who don't know Jesus. This dad had been praying for this spiritual breakthrough long before P28+1, and he is continuing to pray for his son and family. I am so thankful that I got to be a small part of that big moment in the fulfillment of a dad's pray for his son.
