Questions?
What is Day of Hope?
Day of Hope is an opportunity to bless our community through practical work projects that support our local mission partners. From painting and clean-up to light construction and landscaping. There are many ways for families, individuals, and small groups to participate. No matter your age or skill level, come help us make a difference.
Is DOH family-friendly?
Yes! We love to see kids involved in service projects. Some serve projects will be better suited for children than others so please be sure to accurately list your child’s age at registration so that our team can make sure the project you are assigned to is a good fit.
How do we choose partners?
Pinelake Church works collaboratively with local, state, national and international mission ministries that are Spirit-led, connected with Pinelake, and align with its values, Biblical beliefs and mission emphasis.
What should I bring?
We would suggest bringing a light snack, sunblock, bug spray and your own water bottle to the project. Any specific project request (such as gloves, shovels, rakes, etc…) will be communicated by your team leader.
When will I find out what team I am on?
Once you register, our team will work to assign you to a project. That team leader will reach out and be your main point of contact. You should receive information the week prior to Day of Hope.
What if it rains?
We are praying for sunshine, but as you know, this is out of our control. A light rain will probably not keep us from working and some of the projects take place indoors. If, however, there is a storm that presents more hazardous conditions, the partner and team leader will make a decision to delay or cancel and communicate with the team.
Can I serve with a group?
Yes! Serving with your small group or a group of friends is a great way to build community and love our neighbors. There is a way to indicate which group you would like to serve with on the registration page. Please list your small group leader or any info you have about the partner.
Are there any other opportunities for me to serve if I cannot go this date?
We usually schedule at least 2 church-wide serve days per year, but our partners need help regularly. Please check back online or speak with your mission’s pastor for more information and future dates.
If I need to leave early, can I still participate for part of the allotted time?
Not all projects will take the full four hours. Some may finish early, while others may take longer than the allotted time. We prefer groups to stay until the project is completed or until 12 p.m.
