A Life of Generosity – Chip Henderson
Key Passages: John 3:16, Acts 20:35
OPENING QUESTION
What is one of the most meaningful or memorable acts of generosity you have experienced or witnessed?
GROW
Palm Sunday reminds us of the greatest act of generosity in history. God gave His Son so that we could have eternal life. At the center of our faith is a generous God who gives freely, sacrificially, and with love.
Because we are made in His image, we are called to reflect that same generosity in our lives. Generosity is not just about money. It shows up in everyday moments. It can look like giving your time, showing patience, finishing what you start, or choosing kindness in what you say and what you leave unsaid.
Financial generosity is one of the clearest ways we reveal what we trust. It reflects whether our hearts are aligned with God or held tightly by what we have. Scripture calls us to be generous to those in need, to invest in what God is doing, to bless our families, and to support the local church with joy.
Generosity is not loss. It is participation in the heart of God. And Jesus reminds us that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
- What stands out to you about God’s generosity in John 3:16?
- In what areas of your life do you find it easiest to be generous? Where is it hardest?
- How does generosity reveal what we truly trust or value?
- What does it look like to live generously beyond just finances?
PRAY
Generosity begins in the heart. As we spend time with God, He shapes us to become more like Him. Prayer helps loosen our grip on what we have and strengthens our trust in Him as our provider.
- Where do you sense God inviting you to grow in generosity?
- Is there anything you are holding onto tightly that God may be asking you to release?
- How can we pray for each other to reflect God’s generous heart this week?
CONNECT
Generosity grows in community. When we see others live open handed lives, it inspires us to do the same. We also need wisdom and discernment as we give, making sure we are helping in ways that truly honor God and serve others well.
- Who in your life models generosity in a way that inspires you?
- How can our group encourage one another to live generously in practical ways?
- What does wise and thoughtful generosity look like in your current season?
SHARE
A generous life points people to Jesus. When we give freely, serve others, and bless those around us, we reflect the gospel in action. Our generosity becomes a testimony of God’s goodness.
- Who around you could be impacted by an act of generosity this week?
- What is one practical way you can give, serve, or bless someone?
- How can your generosity help someone see the love of God?
