Angels We Have Heard on High – Chip Henderson
Key Passage: Luke 2:8–20
OPENING QUESTION
What’s a moment, big or small, when you’ve felt like heaven broke into your everyday life?
GROW
When the angels appeared to the shepherds, it was a collision between the spiritual and physical worlds. Their message, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, wasn’t just for the shepherds but for all people. This moment reminds us that God breaks through from our side of the gap, not just from His. And when we understand where Jesus came from and what He came to do, our response should mirror the angels and shepherds by glorifying God and sharing what we’ve seen.
- What stood out to you in the angels’ message to the shepherds?
- Why does it matter that God didn’t stay distant but came from our side of the gap?
- How does your understanding of the spiritual realm shape how you live each day?
PRAY
The angels and shepherds glorified God in the highest even in the midst of fear, uncertainty, and unknowns. Prayer is where we meet God with all of that, trusting Him to break through.
- Where do you need to say, Even though you slay me, still I will glorify you?
- What part of your life feels like it needs a heavenly interruption?
- How can we pray for each other to glorify God in the highs and lows?
CONNECT
The shepherds didn’t keep the experience to themselves. They went together, saw together, and shared together. When we walk together in faith, we get to experience God more deeply.
- How does seeing others glorify God impact your faith?
- Who in your life reflects heaven’s glory in everyday ways?
- What helps you shift from going through the motions to living with spiritual awareness?
SHARE
The angels announced good news. The shepherds told everyone what they had seen. When we’ve truly encountered Jesus, we are moved to share His goodness with others.
- Who needs to hear a word of hope or encouragement from you this week?
- What is a simple way you can reflect God’s glory to someone in your daily life?
- Who can you invite into your faith story or your group this season?
NEXT STEP
Choose one way to practice a BTC rhythm this week:
Grow: What Scripture will help you see God’s glory more clearly?
Pray: Where will you invite God to break through?
Connect: Who will you encourage or point to Jesus?
Share: What good news or gift can you share with someone?
PRAYER
Close by thanking God for breaking into our world through angels, through Jesus, and through the Spirit today. Ask Him to help you live a life that glorifies Him in the highest and reflects His peace on earth. Pray for boldness to share what He has done in your life, just like the shepherds did.
