VISION FOR DISCIPLESHIP | JANUARY 4, 2026

Learn From Christ – Chip Henderson

Key Passage: Matthew 11:28–30

OPENING QUESTION

What is one of the most meaningful invitations you’ve ever received, and how did it impact you?

GROW

Jesus extends a personal invitation to come to Him, not to religion or rules, but to relationship. He offers rest to the weary, relief to the burdened, and purpose to those worn down by life or sin. Discipleship is not about earning or performing. It is about learning from Jesus, taking His yoke, and becoming more like Him day by day.

  • What does it mean to you to come to Jesus? How is that different from simply going to church or trying to be a good person?

  • Where in your life do you feel weary, heavy-laden, or weighed down right now?

  • What stands out to you about Jesus’ invitation to learn from Him and take on His yoke?

PRAY

Jesus describes Himself as gentle and humble in heart, and He promises rest for our souls when we trust Him. That rest is both a gift and something we find through surrender and obedience. Prayer is where we receive that rest and draw strength to keep walking with Him.

  • Where do you need to find rest today, in your body, mind, or soul?

  • What burdens are you carrying that you need to lay down in prayer?

  • How can our group pray for each other to experience Jesus’ peace and presence this week?

CONNECT

Discipleship is not a solo journey. Learning from Jesus often happens in community, through church, small groups, teachers, and time together in the Word. It is about walking with others who help you carry the load and grow in faith.

  • Who in your life has helped you learn more about Jesus and how to follow Him?

  • What is one way this group can help each other grow in becoming disciples this year?

  • What rhythms or relationships help you stay connected to Jesus throughout your week?

SHARE

Jesus invites us to learn from Him so that we can reflect His heart to the world. As we walk with Him, we become people who carry His peace, extend His love, and help others find the same rest we have received.

  • Who around you is weary and needs to hear about the rest Jesus offers?

  • What is one way you can share the peace of Christ with someone this week?

  • How can your story of learning from Jesus help someone else take a step of faith?

NEXT STEP

Choose one action for this week in one of the Be The Church rhythms:

Grow: What Scripture or resource will help you learn more from Jesus?
Pray: What burden will you bring to Jesus in prayer each day?
Connect: Who will you check on or encourage in their discipleship?
Share: What is one opportunity you have to speak peace or truth into someone’s life?

PRAYER

Close by thanking Jesus for His personal invitation to come and find rest. Ask Him to help each person in the group learn from Him in new ways, walk in His peace, and take His yoke with joy and trust. Invite His Spirit to guide, teach, and strengthen you as you follow Him together.
