LYRICS OF CHRISTMAS | DECEMBER 14, 2025
O Little Town of Bethlehem – Chip Henderson
Key Passage: John 6:32–35
OPENING QUESTION
What’s your favorite part of a Christmas meal or tradition, and why do you think food and celebration are so connected in our lives?
GROW
Bethlehem means “house of bread,” and in John 6, Jesus calls Himself the “bread of life.” It’s no accident that the One who satisfies every spiritual hunger was born in a city known for bread. Just as physical bread sustains our bodies, Jesus gives eternal life, deep peace, and soul-level satisfaction.
- What do you think Jesus meant when He said, “I am the bread of life”?
- How does this change the way you think about Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus?
- In what ways are you tempted to satisfy your soul with things that don’t last?
PRAY
Jesus came to meet our deepest needs, not just to rescue us, but to sustain us. Prayer helps us recognize our need for Him and receive from Him daily.
- Where do you feel spiritually hungry or empty right now?
- What would it look like to “come to Jesus” this week and feast on His truth and presence?
- How can our group pray for you to experience the fullness of Jesus as your Bread of Life?
CONNECT
Bethlehem reminds us that God meets us in small, quiet places, like a humble town or a manger. Sometimes our deepest spiritual growth happens through everyday moments with others.
- Who has helped you learn to rely on Jesus as your source of strength and satisfaction?
- What’s one way you can be “bread” to someone else, offering encouragement, presence, or help?
- How can we as a group make space for people to encounter Jesus this season?
SHARE
“O Little Town of Bethlehem” reminds us that God moves in quiet, powerful ways. The hope of the world came through a baby in a small town. Today, He still offers life to anyone who will receive Him.
- Who in your life is searching for something deeper, something only Jesus can satisfy?
- How can you use this hymn or a simple conversation to point someone to the Bread of Life this week?
- What small act of service or generosity could be a doorway for someone to encounter Jesus?
NEXT STEP
Choose one action for this week in one of the Be The Church rhythms:
Grow: Read John 6:32–35 each day and reflect on what it means for Jesus to be your daily bread.
Pray: Thank Jesus for sustaining you and ask Him to fill you afresh.
Connect: Share a meal or coffee with someone who needs encouragement.
Share: Give intentionally this week, time, presence, or resources, to bless someone in need.
PRAYER
Jesus, You were born in the house of bread, and You came to be the Bread of Life. Thank You for being the One who satisfies every hunger. Help us turn to You daily, depend on You fully, and offer Your love freely. Fill us so we can pour out to others. Amen.
